Parks/Places of Interest
Odum has a few places of interest to check out. The city is home to the Martin House on Highway 341; this home is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
If you happen to be on the Odum end of Wayne County, take a drive out Beard’s Bluff Road and follow the boat ramp signs to the Upper County Landing. This area has a great view of the river – not to mention there’s also a picnic area and a nature trail. The landing was renovated recently, and there’s plenty of parking and good access to the river. And if you like sitting by the river, you will enjoy Upper County Landing!
Feel free to try Oglethorpe Landing – the locals call this “Pig Farm Landing.” It is off of O’Steen Branch Road, which is in turn off of Oglethorpe Road.
Events
The Doug Daniel Scholarship Run is held the second Saturday in February in Odum. The run was established to honor the memory of the late Doug Daniel of Odum and to establish a scholarship for a graduating senior at Wayne County High School who is a member of the cross-country or track team. Participants can choose between the 5K run and the one-mile fun run.
